“Marry Me”

Chris and I just celebrated our 3 year anniversary and we’ve been engaged for 3 months – time flies when you are in love! I’m sorry I haven’t had a chance to sit down and share all of the proposal details with you, but I promise it was worth the wait!

On Saturday June 25th, 2016 – It was a totally normal saturday morning. I woke up, went to exercise with my trainer, came home and jumped in the pool. I was laying in the sun when my sister asked if I wanted to grab lunch, so I showered and we went! My sister’s fiancé, Kraig, joined us for lunch and it was just like any other Saturday. Towards the end of lunch my sister was getting a little antsy. If you know my sister – you know this is normal too. We paid the check and headed home.

As we approached my front door step there was a small table outside with a dozen roses. Vicky and I could see it from the car. Vicky asked if it was my anniversary and I said no. We got up to the front door and my name was on the card on top of the roses and it still didn’t hit me. I opened the card and as I started reading I realized exactly what was about to happen. My hands were shaking and at the bottom of the card was my first clue.

After reading the first card, I went inside hysterical crying, filled with excitement and nerves and I somehow (don’t ask me how) got ready. The entire day just unfolded perfectly. I had ordered a dress about a week before and it arrived that morning, so I had this new dress on my bed ready to be worn. I put it on and my sister and I got into her car and went to my first clue.

Clue #1: Go to the place where I first told you I love you.

This was at the Emporium in Patchogue on my 23rd birthday. We pulled up and I saw Chris’s two best friends, Ian & Tyler, standing outside both holding flowers. I cried even more. Ian and Tyler are like family to me, so I was so happy they were apart of the proposal. After a few minutes of talking and Ian cracking jokes – Ian handed me my next clue. My hands began to shake again and the tears were nonstop.

Clue #2: Go to the place where we spent all of our summers as kids.

Many of you know this, but some may not: Chris and I grew up together. His parents house is down the block from mine, so we’ve known each other since we were very young. (And he’s ALWAYS liked me even though he says he hasn’t)! Vicky and I jumped back into her car and headed back to our house. When we got home – I could see my family on my back deck. I went outside and there was my mom, dad, brother, grandma and Kraig. Each one of them stood up and handed me more flowers and I cried. Please let me remind you this is hour #2 into the proposal and I probably stopped crying for 10 minutes total during that whole time. Chris set up a table with pictures of us and more flowers. It was amazing. We sat down and we talked, laughed, I cried. And then my dad gave me clue #3.

Clue #3: Go to the place where we spend all of our anniversaries.

Vicky and I got back into her car and headed to Verace in Islip (this is an italian restaurant that Chris and I always go to). When we got to the restaurant I was nervous. I kept saying to Vicky “Just tell me who’s inside, so I know who to look for” and she was silent – pushing me to go inside. As i walked in, straight in front of me, in the middle of the dining room was Chris’s parent’s! Vicky and I sat down with them and they had me laughing. They told me about when they met and their wedding. It was great! I also got a glass of wine (that i chugged in 30 seconds) and it definitely took the edge off. Then Chris’s mom gave me clue #4.

Clue #4: Go to the place where I first asked you to be my girlfriend.

This was at Robert Moses Beach. Vicky and I headed to the beach. The card read “Robert Moses Field 3 go towards the sunset”. I knew this was where Chris would be.

I just want to say that I was so lucky to have my sister right by my side during this entire adventure. She kept me calm and even when I asked questions trying to figure out what was next she never let me know. She photographed the entire day from start to finish, so Chris and I will have those memories forever. She really is the world’s BEST sister and there are not enough words to say how truly thankful we are. We love you SO much, Vic!

Vicky and I got out of the car and started making our way towards the beach. We could see Chris in the far distance and we knew we had a pretty lengthy walk in front of us, but all I could see was Chris. The sun was setting behind him and as I got closer I realize he had set up a blanket with candles and rose pedals. When I tell you I felt like I was in a dream I am not kidding.

dsc_0133

I finally got to Chris and he handed me more flowers. At this point I have about 10 dozen red roses. And he opened up my last clue and read it to me. I was already in tears, but i remember him reading “I’ve made you wait long enough” and he handed me the card. He got down on one knee and proposed.

It was magical. A fairytale. Everything I could have ever wished for. I of course said yes. And after my sister took some amazing photos of us as the sun set.

How lucky am I? I get to marry the man of my dreams. I still, to this day, cannot believe that Chris was able to put all of that together seamlessly and that I was lucky enough to be the girl he asked to marry. I have the biggest smile on my face right now.

After taking photos – Vicky and Chris said there was one more surprise. At this point, I didn’t have any more tears left to cry, so no matter what it was I was ready for it. We got closer to the parking lot and there was my family and his standing with a huge banner that said “Marissa Renee Kmeciak”. We were surrounded by so much love. Happiness was pouring out of everyone. It was the perfect end to the perfect day.

I love you, Chris.

We all know one-piece swimsuits are on trend right now and I’ve been searching for the perfect one. After trying on all different styles from ASOS, Nordstrom, Nasty Gal, Lord & Taylor & Bloomingdales.. I finally found it!!! This ASOS T-Back High Leg Plunge Swimsuit  is SO flattering. Not to mention it’s sexy af (ha!) and super comfortable.

If I like something, like really like something, I tend to purchase it in every color available. And that’s exactly what happened here. I initially purchased the black one (which is my favorite out of all 4) and then ordered the nude, white and red.

The best part about this swimsuit is that is ONLY costs $26. It’s a total steal.

I am excited to wear it in Aruba and I will definitely post pictures after the trip! Stay tuned! Happy shopping and enjoy your Saturday!

xx Marissa

I’m Nominated!

3and3quarters.net_

Super excited that @fashionofpure nominated me for the Liebster Award! Thank you!! Everyone should go check out her fashion blog for outfit and style inspiration.

Below are my answers to @fashionofpure‘s questions:

How did you come up with the idea of starting your blog?

I had a ton of photos in my phone from recent travels, new outfits, and things that inspire me daily, so I decided it was time to share with everyone!

Why is blogging important to you?

It’s my creative outlet. Most importantly, i genuinely enjoy doing it.

The one moment that motivated you to start your blog?

I was flying home from Atlanta (on a business trip) and I was scrolling through my photos from the trip (amazing restaurants, fashion, drinks, scenery, etc.) and I said to myself If I shared this information for others I’m sure they would find it helpful if they are traveling to Atlanta. Who doesn’t want some great restaurant tips or fun attractions to visit? And then my mind just filled with all of the other possibilities.

How is your blog different from the other blogs?

I read very few other blogs. I try to keep RTW unique to me and my inspirations. I think keeping your blog organic and true to yourself is so important. I hope that when others read RTW they are connecting directly with me, my visions and my life.

What is the one post made by you that you like the most, and why?

This is a tough one, but I’d have to say ‘Boyfriend Jeans’ because it was the most fun shooting the looks. My sister shoots all of my content and we laughed the entire day.

The one novel/song/movie that you relate to the most, and why?

Sunday Morning by Maroon 5. It’s my all time favorite. It reminds me of weekends spent laying with the one you love. What’s better than that?

If you could have one magical power, what would you want it to be?

To see the future. I am a planner. I like to know what’s happening, when it’s happening and how it’s happening. I guess I will just have to continue to wait and see what’s in store for me!

Which is your favorite clothing brand/designer and why?

Hmm.. There’s a lot!  But i’d have to say Free People.

The best piece of advice you’ve ever recieved?

To be happy – in all aspects of your life. Do what you have to do to make sure you are happy with your job, relationships, friendships, and most importantly yourself. There is no greater feeling than the balance of feeling content with all parts of your life.

A blogging trend you like the most and why?

Product reviews because they are so informative!

Your mantra success?

Find your happiness.

Maid of Honor

New Years Eve was such a special night for me. Surrounded by family, friends and glasses of champagne – I was completely surprised when my sister put her computer in front of me and played the video below.

A walk down memory lane. Gosh, it feels like yesterday we were playing dolls in the play room and now i will stand next to her when she gets married. This video made me laugh and cry, but most of all it made me realize how lucky i am to have my sister.

I, of course, said yes. After we hugged and cried, she gave me this beautiful box of MOH goodies! It was the best surprise on NYE!

GLOSSIER.

A friend recommended Glossier because she loved a few of their products, so i decided to see for myself. I ordered their generation g matte lipstick (color: jam), boy brow (color: blonde) and milky jelly cleanser. All of them exceeded my expectations! Yes, i am in love.

The generation g matte lipstick has the finish like a stain, but can be applied like a balm. I ordered the color Jam and it’s definitely something I can throw in my bag and apply at anytime. I’m so glad that I ordered it – i will definitely be purchasing the other shades. Below are a few pictures of the jam shade on me.

The boy brow gives me life. I’ve been looking for a good brow filler because my eye brows are blonde and barely exist. The boy brow is basically like mascara for your eyebrows. It works as a filler & shaper at the same time. I absolutely love it. Below is a photo with boy brow applied to my right eye brow and nothing on my left. Holy difference.

The milky jelly cleanser is amazing. It’s both gentle and strong. Leaving your face feeling soft and clean with the ability to dissolve your make up off of your face too. I used it after I showered and it made my face feel like new. I am super excited to use it again tomorrow!

I am looking forward to trying more of Glossier’s products. Stay tuned for more reviews!

4Love

4Love’s mission is to empower indigenous women through stable employment, profit sharing and education.

Similar to 4Love Clothing, Run The World was originally created to empower and inspire women. 4Love’s mission hits close to home for me and I am honored that I’ve had the opportunity to team up with them!

Lindsey Parry, Founder & Designer of 4Love Clothing, says “I wanted to give women a greater voice so they could make decisions that benefit them and their family. I wanted to give them an opportunity to learn how to read, to learn how to write and give them the feeling of self-worth!”

Lindsey’s journey started when she moved to The Republic of Panama in 2011 to create Sowing Seeds of Love, a Christian non-profit organization focused on empowering indigenous women and children through education, creative arts, reading programs, and team sports. Soon she would tie her love for fashion with her passion to help others. The idea was to create a fashionable clothing line that empowered the women of Panama through stable employment and fair wages. Lindsey taught the women how to use electric sewing machines to bring her designs to life.

Fast foward a few years later and 4Love Clothing has exceeded all of their original expectations, continued to grow and most importantly, empowered women along the way.

Ive had the opportunity to support and wear 4Love’s newest collection and I could not be happier. 4Love Clothing is currently doing a big Christmas & School Supply fundraiser for two orphanages they support and the children who live on the reservation. A portion of everything sold on 4Love Clothing will support this effort.

With the holidays approaching I hope we can all team up and support 4Love Clothing’s mission. Use code runtheworld to receive 40% off your entire purchase.

Thank you 4Love Clothing & Lindsey Parry.

By supporting one another, we can run the world.
