You, Me & The Sea

Right before vacation I saw a Eugenia Kim Straw Sunhat on NET-A-PORTER and fell in love with it. It was $485 and that was NOT happening, so I improvised.

I bought a straw sunhat at H&M for $20 and I purchased a Paint Pen on Amazon for $6.64. I traced the words on the hat in pencil and then went over it with the paint pen.

It was exactly what I wanted, I had a blast creating it and loved having it in Aruba.

“Marry Me”

Chris and I just celebrated our 3 year anniversary and we’ve been engaged for 3 months – time flies when you are in love! I’m sorry I haven’t had a chance to sit down and share all of the proposal details with you, but I promise it was worth the wait!

On Saturday June 25th, 2016 – It was a totally normal saturday morning. I woke up, went to exercise with my trainer, came home and jumped in the pool. I was laying in the sun when my sister asked if I wanted to grab lunch, so I showered and we went! My sister’s fiancé, Kraig, joined us for lunch and it was just like any other Saturday. Towards the end of lunch my sister was getting a little antsy. If you know my sister – you know this is normal too. We paid the check and headed home.

As we approached my front door step there was a small table outside with a dozen roses. Vicky and I could see it from the car. Vicky asked if it was my anniversary and I said no. We got up to the front door and my name was on the card on top of the roses and it still didn’t hit me. I opened the card and as I started reading I realized exactly what was about to happen. My hands were shaking and at the bottom of the card was my first clue.

After reading the first card, I went inside hysterical crying, filled with excitement and nerves and I somehow (don’t ask me how) got ready. The entire day just unfolded perfectly. I had ordered a dress about a week before and it arrived that morning, so I had this new dress on my bed ready to be worn. I put it on and my sister and I got into her car and went to my first clue.

Clue #1: Go to the place where I first told you I love you.

This was at the Emporium in Patchogue on my 23rd birthday. We pulled up and I saw Chris’s two best friends, Ian & Tyler, standing outside both holding flowers. I cried even more. Ian and Tyler are like family to me, so I was so happy they were apart of the proposal. After a few minutes of talking and Ian cracking jokes – Ian handed me my next clue. My hands began to shake again and the tears were nonstop.

Clue #2: Go to the place where we spent all of our summers as kids.

Many of you know this, but some may not: Chris and I grew up together. His parents house is down the block from mine, so we’ve known each other since we were very young. (And he’s ALWAYS liked me even though he says he hasn’t)! Vicky and I jumped back into her car and headed back to our house. When we got home – I could see my family on my back deck. I went outside and there was my mom, dad, brother, grandma and Kraig. Each one of them stood up and handed me more flowers and I cried. Please let me remind you this is hour #2 into the proposal and I probably stopped crying for 10 minutes total during that whole time. Chris set up a table with pictures of us and more flowers. It was amazing. We sat down and we talked, laughed, I cried. And then my dad gave me clue #3.

Clue #3: Go to the place where we spend all of our anniversaries.

Vicky and I got back into her car and headed to Verace in Islip (this is an italian restaurant that Chris and I always go to). When we got to the restaurant I was nervous. I kept saying to Vicky “Just tell me who’s inside, so I know who to look for” and she was silent – pushing me to go inside. As i walked in, straight in front of me, in the middle of the dining room was Chris’s parent’s! Vicky and I sat down with them and they had me laughing. They told me about when they met and their wedding. It was great! I also got a glass of wine (that i chugged in 30 seconds) and it definitely took the edge off. Then Chris’s mom gave me clue #4.

Clue #4: Go to the place where I first asked you to be my girlfriend.

This was at Robert Moses Beach. Vicky and I headed to the beach. The card read “Robert Moses Field 3 go towards the sunset”. I knew this was where Chris would be.

I just want to say that I was so lucky to have my sister right by my side during this entire adventure. She kept me calm and even when I asked questions trying to figure out what was next she never let me know. She photographed the entire day from start to finish, so Chris and I will have those memories forever. She really is the world’s BEST sister and there are not enough words to say how truly thankful we are. We love you SO much, Vic!

dsc_0404

Vicky and I got out of the car and started making our way towards the beach. We could see Chris in the far distance and we knew we had a pretty lengthy walk in front of us, but all I could see was Chris. The sun was setting behind him and as I got closer I realize he had set up a blanket with candles and rose pedals. When I tell you I felt like I was in a dream I am not kidding.

dsc_0133

I finally got to Chris and he handed me more flowers. At this point I have about 10 dozen red roses. And he opened up my last clue and read it to me. I was already in tears, but i remember him reading “I’ve made you wait long enough” and he handed me the card. He got down on one knee and proposed.

It was magical. A fairytale. Everything I could have ever wished for. I of course said yes. And after my sister took some amazing photos of us as the sun set.

How lucky am I? I get to marry the man of my dreams. I still, to this day, cannot believe that Chris was able to put all of that together seamlessly and that I was lucky enough to be the girl he asked to marry. I have the biggest smile on my face right now.

After taking photos – Vicky and Chris said there was one more surprise. At this point, I didn’t have any more tears left to cry, so no matter what it was I was ready for it. We got closer to the parking lot and there was my family and his standing with a huge banner that said “Marissa Renee Kmeciak”. We were surrounded by so much love. Happiness was pouring out of everyone. It was the perfect end to the perfect day.

I love you, Chris.

All In The Details

I keep saying “I am done shopping for Aruba”, but then I saw this pom-pom cover up and beaded sandals on sale and I knew I wasn’t done just yet!

IMG_7148

I totally love the pom-pom trend, but most of the pieces I’ve seen are super expensive. When i saw this Anmol Crotchet Kimono with Multi Colored Pom Pom Trim on ASOS – I figured it was a couple hundred dollars, but to my surprise it was on sale for $46!

Since the pom-pom details are “on trend” right now I don’t want to invest much money into different pieces because I probably won’t wear it next summer, so $46 and I was sold! I would definitely scoop it up before it sells out and summer ends!

These Steve Madden Jewells Beaded Suede Sandals are very comfortable and perfect for vacation! Another great sale item i found at Lord & Taylor! Guess how much…

$27.60! And they still have a bunch of sizes left. Go get them before they are gone!

Estēe Lauder

IMG_7104

There are a few key products by Estēe Lauder that I always use and wanted to share with you!

Softening Lotion – I use it after I wash my face and it leaves my skin feeling smooth and refreshed!

Perfectly Clean Foam Cleanser – I leave it on for 3 minutes while I shower and helps to keep my skin clear.

Double Wear Light Foundation – I love this foundation because it’s lightweight, always looks natural and stays on all day! (I use Intensity 4.0)

Brush-On Glow Highlighter – To hide dark circles and brighten up your eyes! (I use 5/6 N Deep Neutral)

Automatic Brow Pencil Duo – This eyebrow filler allows you to easily trace your brow and fill it in. (I use 07-soft blonde)

These Estēe Lauder products are just a few of my favorites. My skin is normally very dry, so beauty products that hydrate my skin, but don’t leave it looking cake-y is very important to me. Luckily, the products above do just that.

We all know one-piece swimsuits are on trend right now and I’ve been searching for the perfect one. After trying on all different styles from ASOS, Nordstrom, Nasty Gal, Lord & Taylor & Bloomingdales.. I finally found it!!! This ASOS T-Back High Leg Plunge Swimsuit  is SO flattering. Not to mention it’s sexy af (ha!) and super comfortable.

If I like something, like really like something, I tend to purchase it in every color available. And that’s exactly what happened here. I initially purchased the black one (which is my favorite out of all 4) and then ordered the nude, white and red.

The best part about this swimsuit is that is ONLY costs $26. It’s a total steal.

I am excited to wear it in Aruba and I will definitely post pictures after the trip! Stay tuned! Happy shopping and enjoy your Saturday!

Travel Must-Haves

Just two short weeks stand between me and paradise! I’m sure you can guess where Chris and I are going…Aruba!! We normally go for 8 days, 7 nights, but we both always feel like 8 days is not enough, so we decided to stay for 10 days this trip. I’m sure I’ll be eager to get home to my pups after 10 days. We are also going for longer this time because we are booking our wedding! Yes, destination wedding in Aruba! It’s our favorite place on earth. How could we not get married there? I promise, I will post all the details!

If you are traveling to a warm, sunny destination for vacation there are 4 products you must not go without. These are essential!

1. Bain De Soleil – The BEST tanning lotion on the market if you are looking to achieve a bronze tan during your vacation. It’s more of a gelée than it is a lotion. It works without fail every time. You can get 2 bottles on amazon prime for $22.37!

2. It’s A 10 – My favorite leave-in conditioner. A friend told me about this product years ago and I have used it ever since. I naturally have super knotty hair and this conditioner is my savior. I use it right after I shower and every time I get out of the water on vacation. You can purchase the 10oz bottle on amazon prime for $24.46. It is normally $34 at Target.

3. Baby Lips Lip Balm (Color: Cherry ME) – I love Baby Lips because it’s easy to apply and it gives your lips the perfect hint of color (especially when you are tan). Available in a 4 pack on amazon prime for $9.99!

4. Intuition Razor Refills – The only razor I use is the intuition because it allows you to lather and moisturize all while shaving your legs in one easy step. No need for shaving cream. When you’re packing for vacation, it’s so much easier to pack your razor and one small refill rather than your razor, another blade and shaving cream. You need to conserve the weight of your luggage for your shoes! I usually purchase my refills at Target!

These are 4 products that I always travel with! I definitely recommend you try them 🙂

Stay tuned for some vacation inspired outfits and cool new swimsuits that I am obsessed with!
